Overnighter at Badger Creek

Monday we quickly packed our camping stuff in the car and headed out to find a new camp site. We drove to Lucky Peak and headed towards Atlanta. We stopped at Macks Creek campground to have lunch and discovered a really nice little campground on the reservoir with picnic tables, bathroom, swimming area, docks and lots of shade. We plan to reserve it for next summer's family reunion. Then we continued driving and looked at a few more primitive camping sites. We ended up doing a little backtracking but finally decided on staying at Badger Creek campground. It only had four camp spots and a bathroom and we had it all to ourselves. We set up camp then played in the river. That evening we went for a walk and found a nest of baby killdeer. We roasted hot dogs and smores over a fire. Then we all fell a sleep while we were watching the stars. The next morning we got up, had a quick breakfast and packed up camp. We went to check on the baby killdeer and they were up and running all around. It was a great start to Mike's birthday. We ended up having lunch at Macks Creek on the way home, Owen catch a little fish and we played in the water. Then we headed home to clean up so I could take Mike to dinner and a movie for his birthday.
