Beginner Hill at Bogus Basin

Today, we all went to Bogus Basin for the afternoon to see if we could remember how to ski. It's been a couple years since we have gone. The girls were ready to go right out of the gates. Owen took a few times down the hill to start to remember what to do. I quickly remembered how much work it is to ski with beginners and how tired you get from trying to get them back up when they crash. By the time we decided to call it a day the kids were all doing great. We will have to go a few more times this season and not leave it so long in between trips.

January Birthday Party

Last night we got together at grandma Reva's to celebrate the January birthdays. Aunt Carla couldn't make it because she is sick with the flu. Aunt Ruby and family couldn't make it because of vehicle problems. So we were missing one of the birthday girls, Alaina she turned 7 this month. The rest of us had a great time eating homemade Mexican food and yummy birthday cakes. I spent quite a few hours on Ashley's horse cake but didn't realize I forgot the chocolate frosting mane until we were cutting it. :(  I even had made a special trip to the store just for the chocolate frosting. Oh well, was still cute.

Ashley's 10th birthday

Ashley with her Fun-Fetti cake pancakes and horse pinata

This year for Ashley's 10th birthday she started off the day with Fun-Fetti cake pancakes topped with whipped cream and sprinkles. Thanks Aunt Ruby for the inspiration.  Ashley's friend Alexis from her class came over to play, party and spend the night. In the afternoon we all headed to meet my sister, Mason and Delaney at Planet Kid in Boise. It's an indoor playground with tunnels, slides, ball pit and all kinds of things to climb in. We hung out for 2 1/2 hours then headed home. Where we had pizza and root beer floats, then beat up Ashley's super cute horse pinata, opened presents and had cupcakes. To end the evening we all went to the dollar theater to see Rise of the Guardians in 3D. It was a busy and fun filled day. Thank you everyone for all the awesome presents and birthday money. She is looking forward to getting to play with it all and go shopping.

Finished creations

YAY! Mike finished the bearded dragon tank. Cutting glass was not as easy as it was suppose to be so slowed this project down. It turned out great. Pepe now has tons of room to move around.  Then we made cupcakes for Ashley to take to school to share with her class the day before her birthday. Birthday photos to come.

Sledding at Pickle Butte

This weekend we decided to go to Pickle Butte on the other side of Lake Lowell to go sledding. We found some fun little hills where the motorcycle and 4 wheeling trails are. It was a lot of fun.

What to do on a Snow Day

Alysha with her enlarged nerd box

This week the kids had their first Snow Day (No School) so they got busy being creative in the house with cardboard and paint then outside with the snow. Man can they make a mess but was great to see how creative they are.

Playing on the ice

For our last day of winter break we headed out to Lake Lowell to check out if it was frozen or not. Mike made a hole and the ice was at least 4 inches thick. The girls put on their ice skates and skated a around for a while. Then they pulled out the sheds to play with. We all went for a walk around the lake and explored. It was interesting how the ice is different in so many spots and how new snow has frozen in patterns. We wrote in the snow, collected icicles and slid around for 2 hours. Then we headed home for dinner and an early bed before school started back up. It was a nice day even if it was still under freezing out.
