Background paintings for the 5th grade play

Okay, I was at the airport getting ready to leave for Arizona when I received a phone call from the school. It was a lady helping with the title one 5th graders. They wanted a few background for their play on Literacy Night the following week. I told them that I would do it but I wouldn't be back until Monday. Of course I didn't know that I'd catch a cold while I was gone. So I ended up getting a copy of the play and the drawings from the kids on Monday then I stretched out what I was going to paint. Tuesdays I spent all day painting and finished the bean stalk, forest, castle tower, picket signs and TV. Today I got the news station and desk signs painted and added some glitter. Then we took them to the school so they are ready for the kids to use for dress rehearsal and the play tomorrow night. It was a very quick project and I didn't have time to add to much detail but the kids were super excited about them. Looking forward to seeing the play.

Our new college graduates.

This weekend my parents, sister and I flew to Flagstaff, Arizona to see my brother Cody and his girlfriend Marisa graduate from Northern Arizona University. Cody graduated with a B.S. in Business Management with a major in Finance and Marisa graduated with a B.S. in Early Childhood Development. We had a nice visit and got to meet Marisa's family.

NAU's graduation. Cody was on stage but was hard to see.

The twenty pounds of candy bars in my carry-on luggage for this card was probably why I had a hard time going through the airport security. :)

Grandma Jane's Birthday Party

We all got together to celebrate Grandma Jane's 92nd birthday at our house. We had a nice BBQ and the weather was sunny even if it wasn't super warm. She had a nice time seeing some of her great grand children, opening presents and eating chocolate cupcakes.

Visiting my Grandfather

I had a wonderful visit with my grandfather and aunt Lee this week. We took a drive out to see the tulip fields, tree farms and beautiful green scenery around Salem then had prime rib. The weather was unbelievable, sunny blue skies in the 80's not the Oregon coast I was expecting. We took a drive over to Lincoln City to get salt water taffy, a wind sock and see the ocean then we had a yummy seafood lunch at Dory Cove. Aunt Lee and I did some shopping then met grandpa for lunch at McGrath's Fish house. It was a short visit but I truly enjoyed it. Looking forward to taking Mike and the kids in August.

Back at home, we went to dinner at Panda Express then to the movies to see Journey 2 the Mysterious Island which was a lot of fun.

Spring Break Week 2

Our second week of Spring break was very busy with lots of family get-togethers. We went to dinner with Mike's family in Boise so since we were already there we decided to stop in the Aquarium for a little while. We almost had the place to our selves so the kids had a great time with all the animals. Mike even got up close and personal with one of the rays. We all went to Aunt Ruby's house for dinner and an after dark Easter egg hunt with flashlights. The kids had a great time hunting for eggs in the dark. We managed to get in another kids' building workshop this one at Home Depot where the kids made bird feeders then we came home to dye eggs. While we were dying eggs I told the kids about when I was in junior high and we had an assignment to take care of a hard boiled egg like it was a baby for a week. So the kids each made babies and took care of them for the rest of the day. Easter morning came with lots of goodies and another egg hunt in the backyard. Then we headed to Payette to spend the afternoon with my family. The kids got to do another egg hunt and play with more cousins. It was a beautiful sunny day and a great way to end the break. Now back to school!

Spring Break

To start off Spring Break the kids enjoyed a few days at home playing with friends. Then we got together with Molly, Mason and Delaney at the Boise Zoo for a fun filled afternoon.  Ashley did some cooking and Alysha built birdhouses for school. I had a belly dance performance which was a lot of fun.

April fool's day is always interesting around here with trip wires, small pull string fire crackers tied to doors, eye liner on the rim of cups, household items being rearranged etc... Then we spent another fun filled afternoon playing with cousins on Mike's side of the family. Now what to do for our second week of Spring Break?
